Pilgrims Hospice Sunflower Luncheon

I had the pleasure of photographing the Pilgims Hospice Sunflower Luncheon event at the Hotel MacDonald a few weeks ago.

If you don’t know about Pilgrims Hospice, go and check them out. They are an amazing organisation which provides services for people who are facing a terminal illness, and people who are facing grief. At the luncheon, a teacher from a local highschool talked about the amazing services that the Pilgrims Hospice provides to their students who are experiencing loss.

Pilgrims Hospice

This amazing organisation is doing a rather brilliant fundraiser right now.

You can find out more info here: Build a Community of Compassion: Pilgrims Hospice

And onto the photos . . .

Edmonton Poet and Author, Anna Sewell

You can find Anna’s work here:

Anna has been a constant in Alberta Avenue for over 10 years – she was one of the first people I met when I moved there.

She is fascinating and engaging, throws a mean Robbie Burns party (and serves haggis!), loves the outdoors (we worked on the greening project at Norwood School together) and is a wonderful poet.

I love the light in this photo – Anna’s backyard.

With Anna being an artist, I knew we had to get in some art in the background. We are both in love with the panels at the Royal Alberta Museum by Ernistine Tahedl. When Anna showed up with a red dress, I knew we had to include them in her portraits.

Akeela Raman – Travel Agent

Akeela and I went over to the Alberta Art GalleryAlberta Art Gallery to get some headshots. The light there is beautiful, and Akeela looks wonderful.

Akeela is a great travel agent (I booked my vacation with her), and she can help you book and plan your trip, whether you want to do your own research first, or let her take care of all the details.

(Personally, I would love to go on the river cruise she is hosting to Europe for next year – it sounds great!)

True Health and Wellness

Last week I had the opportunity to visit with Jennifer Ly and watch her create raw food magic. Jen provides nutritional coaching for her clients (in addition to iridology and live blood cell analysis) through her business True Health and Wellness

One of the best parts about doing food photography is at the end, I get to eat.

Here Jen prepares green juice made from organic vegetables (and a bit of fruit). (I started green juicing a few years ago – its one of the best things I’ve ever done for my body).

Next is a raw noodles, made with daikon and cucumber, with raw almonds, tomatoes and peppers. You might think you would not be full after eating just a bowl of salad, but this kept me going until supper time.

The other side of Jen, is her amazing desert creations. These are raw coconut with cocoa and are amazing!

This is my favourite type of business photography shoot. Taking photos of you doing what you do best, and your creations. If you are a small business, looking to share with your clients and future clients what it is that you do, please drop me a line!

And of course, if you are looking to improve your health, give Jen a call. Her website is True Health and Wellness
